A Prom is a program held at one of the grand estates. They put up a band shell and the National Symphony accompanied a wonderful young Scottish tenor and an English soprano who sang some of our favorite pieces. Everyone brings lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and flags. Dad told the Westons about it and so they got President and Sister Lindley, and the Armstrongs, and we all went together in the mission van.

Castle Howard Prom
